Filopappos Hill

Filopappos Hill, also known as the Hill of the Muses, lies on the south-west side of the Acropolis. Named after a Roman prince, the hill was once used as a fortress and housed a garrison.

Today, visitors can climb the hill’s rocky path to see its towering monument, stop at the chapel of ‘Saint Demetrius the Bombardier’, or simply stroll among the olive and cypress trees.
