The capital of Kythera, or Hora as the locals call it, is a picturesque little town maintaining many of its traditional architectural features. Everything here exudes old Aegean charm, from its minimalist houses and narrow pathways, to the arches between the pure white houses and the copious pots filled with colourful flowers.
A great number of churches augment the traditional atmosphere of the town and many of the restored Venetian houses now operate as guesthouses, ideal for relaxing vacations.
While there, head up the road that climbs from the island’s port to Hora – it offers a truly magnificent view.
