Al. Kondopoulos Museum

Municipality of Agia Paraskevi

From 1967 to 1975, this unique museum in Agia Paraskevi was home to Alekos Kondopoulos (1904-1975), a 20th-century artist and leader of the Greek Struggle for Liberation. Founded in 1999, the museum’s displays include the artist’s studio, works, extensive library and personal effects. He bequeathed the house to the Agia Paraskevi Municipal Library, which is collocated in the house. Born in Lamia, Kondopoulos began painting in his youth and apprenticed with the painter Sarafianos. He contributed to the hagiography of many local churches. He subsequently studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts with Iakovidis, Geraniotis and Lytras, and later in Paris. He established a remarkable reputation over the course of his career with a number of successful solo and group exhibitions.
