Accessibility Statement
Last updated October 29, 2026
The Region of Attica is committed to making its tourism promotion website athensattica.com accessible, in accordance with Law 4727/2020 (Government Gazette A' 184), Chapter H "Digital Accessibility" (Articles 36–47), as in force, which transposed Directive (EU) 2016/2102 into Greek law.
This accessibility statement applies to the website athensattica.com in its four language versions (Greek, English, French and German). The address athensattica.gr leads to the same website.
1. Compliance status
The website athensattica.com is partially compliant with the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) (WCAG 2.1, level AA), due to the non-compliances and the exemptions listed below. Of the 50 success criteria of levels A and AA, the website meets 39, partially meets 4 and does not meet 3, while 4 criteria do not apply.
2. Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
2.1. Non-compliance with the applicable legislation
Videos: the Region's campaign videos only have YouTube's automatic English captions, which have not been checked, and the route videos have no captions. No video has an audio description or a transcript (success criteria 1.2.2, 1.2.3 and 1.2.5).
Gallery photos: they are described only by the title of the entry and their position (e.g. "Glyfada Beach, photo 2 of 4") or, on destination pages, only by their position, not by a description of what they show (success criterion 1.1.1).
Images of text: in the campaign section of the home page, the handwritten names on three photos are images of text; the names are also available as text to assistive technologies (success criterion 1.4.5).
Text spacing: when users increase line, letter and word spacing, the titles and short descriptions on content cards are cut off earlier with an ellipsis; the full text is shown on the entry's page (success criterion 1.4.12).
Language of parts: some passages in a language other than that of the page are not marked with their language, such as the English closing line of the campaign page in the Greek, French and German versions, as well as foreign-language passages in the content of some pages (success criterion 3.1.2).
Downloadable documents: the accessibility of the PDF documents linked from the website and of the compressed file (ZIP) with maps offered by the "Maps" link in the footer has not been assessed.
2.2. Disproportionate burden
The disproportionate burden exemption is not invoked.
2.3. Content outside the scope of the applicable legislation
Office documents: documents in office file formats (e.g. PDF) published before 23 September 2018, unless they are needed for active administrative processes (Article 37(3)(a) of Law 4727/2020).
Maps: the interactive maps and their tiles, as long as the essential information is provided in an accessible way: every point on a map also appears in text lists by category and municipality, and each point's page links to directions (Article 37(3)(d) of Law 4727/2020).
Third-party content: the YouTube video player, which the website embeds but does not control (Article 37(3)(e) of Law 4727/2020).
3. Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 29 October 2026.
The method used to prepare the statement is an assessment carried out by a third party: a technical evaluation by the project contractor on 27 October 2026, on a sample of 53 pages covering 28 page types and all four languages, with automated tools (axe-core 4.14, Lighthouse 13.5) and checks of keyboard operation, zoom, contrast and markup. The technical fixes that resulted from the evaluation were applied to the website on 29 October 2026, and the compliance status in section 1 takes them into account.
The statement was last reviewed on 29 October 2026. It is updated after every substantial change to the website and at least once a year (Law 4727/2020, Article 42(1)).

You can report accessibility problems you encounter on the website, or request information and content that is not accessible or is excluded from the scope of the legislation. The competent service for accessibility issues is the Autonomous Directorate of Internet Information and Digital Services and in particular the Department of Internet and Digital Information.
