Estia Newspaper Building
This neoclassical building on Anthimou Gazi Street is closely linked to the history of the Estia newspaper.
Constructed in 1876, this eye-catching building was for decades home to the offices and printing facilities of the Estia newspaper, a testament to the publication’s success. The paper was printed on its own presses here until 1997, and its offices are now located elsewhere. Typical of the neoclassical style favoured in the second half of 19th century, the building has three floors with a symmetrical façade, a marble balcony on the first floor, and entrances and exits on all floors framed by marble Corinthian columns.
The decision was made early in this century to restore the building’s original aesthetic and architectural features, based on studies by Michael Tylianakis.
