Theotokos Kecharitomeni Monastery
Municipality of Poros
A short distance southeast of the village of Troezen lies the Theotokos Kecharitomene Monastery. This contemporary monastery was built by Father Epiphanios Theodoropoulos in 1976, with the first monks settling here one year later on the feast of the Virgin Mary of the Life-Giving Spring (Zoodochos Pigi). The monastery’s construction was paid for by donations from the faithful. Today, the monastery houses 20 monks, focusing on charitable work throughout the region. This all-male monastery is one of only two in the local Holy Metropolis that are an ‘abaton’ (closed to women).
