It has an oval shape and many names: Mikrolimano, Fanari, Tourkolimano, Port of Koumoundourou. But in ancient times it had only one name: Port of Munychia. It belongs to the district of Kastella, with which it is connected by the uphill streets with the youth cafes and bars. During the Byzantine period it was called Fanari, probably because there was a lantern at its entrance (Greek word “fanos”).
