The classification of the points of interest for the Region of Attica was based on the descriptions provided by the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (Paris 23/11/1972), which was ratified by Greece with the law N.1126 of 3-10/2/1981 “Regarding the ratification of the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage signed in Paris on November 23, 1972” (Official Gazette N.32/A). The Convention came into force on October 17th 1981, according to the announcement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on September 21st- October 1st 1981 (Official Gazette 286 A’).
