Evangelismos Hospital

Evangelismos Hospital, constructed between 1881 and 1884 according to designs by Anastasios Theophilas, is one of the oldest general hospitals in Greece.

It was established by Queen Olga and construction was further financed by Tsar Alexander II, the Petraki Monastery and many wealthy businessmen of the era. Since opening in the 1880s, many new buildings and extensions have been added, including the First Surgery Clinic and the nurses’ housing wing.

The Evangelismos metro station is right next to the hospital, making it easily accessible.
