National Archaeological Museum
A quiet, verdant garden-patio with over 700 plant species awaits the museum’s visitors for a pleasant coffee and snack break, by the statues and mosaics of the permanent exhibition. The café also hosts works of Greek and foreign artists, as well as musical performances in the context of annual cultural events, such as on Museums Day, August Full Moon et al.
Museum of Cycladic Art
The Cycladic Café is a hidden oasis in the centre of Athens, and one of the brightest gardens of the city, featuring an imposing floating façade-sculpture. In the garden of the Byzantine and Christian Museum you will have your coffee and dessert or a light dish at the “ILISSIA” café – bistrot. In the shadow of the Palace of the Duchess of Plaisance and with the Hymettus ridge in the background, the charming café – bistrot offers peaceful and relaxing moments before or after your tour in the museum.
In the stunning garden of the “Palace of Ilion”, a small verdant oasis of 800 sqm welcomes us with many species of the Greek flora and copies of ancient Greek statues. The museum’s café offers coffee, fresh fruit juices, a selected wine list, salads, cheese and cured meat platters, as well as sweet and savoury tarts, in the quiet and cool environment of the courtyard, where Heinrich Schliemann used to spend his free time.
Athens City Museum
Black Duck Bistrot of Athens City Museum is located in the “garden of the Old Palace”, the first public garden of the city, with four entrances, fountain, and a cistern filled with water and goldfish. Here you can still see the palm tree planted by queen Amalia herself. The bistrot’s menu changes frequently, offering a vast variety of Mediterranean dishes with European influences.
The list continues with Benaki Museum and its satellite museums: On the rooftop of the main building, on Koumbari street, there is a wonderful small café with majestic views of the Acropolis, Lycabettus hill and the National Gardens. The café of the Museum of Islamic Art in Kerameikos district, on 22 Ag. Asomaton street, “oversees” the archaeological site of Kerameikos cemetery, Thission and the Acropolis and serves delicious snacks and beverages, while the ground floor lounge of the Benaki Museum on 138 Pireos street serves fine flavours in a modern and minimalistic space.

Featuring a modern, discreet design and vegetation that embraces the space, the atrium of B&E Goulandris Café-Restaurant is a cool and quiet oasis in the heart of the city. In Agora Bistro you will savour all-day meals, from breakfast to dinner, while in the Canal Café, overlooking the impressive Canal, you will taste savoury and sweet dishes based on pure Greek ingredients, in an elegant environment.
