Λαογραφικό Μουσείο Ιλίου

The Ilion Folklore Museum, which opened in 1997, displays an extensive collection of traditional Greek costumes, photographs, maps, domestic utensils, clay tools, glass, and other everyday items from Greece’s rich past. Originally located at the municipal cultural centre, this free museum moved to its current home at 53 Kalhou Street in 2010.

Be sure to visit the ‘Wedding Room’, filled with traditional items from the area’s old Arvanite families. The Arvanites were a distinct population group who settled in Greece in the middle ages, with their own language and culture. The first inhabitants of the area were of Arvanite origin, and the museum includes a glossary of terms in the Arvanitic language.
