Piraeus Municipal Library

The Library has an electronic catalogue, accessible through the Municipality's web portal, where users can search among more than 100,000 different volumes. The library also has an archive collection of antiquities (16th-19th centuries), manuscripts, 600 maps, magazines and official journals (1833-2002). The building also has a lending department, a reading room and a children's section. It encourages children to love reading by participating in programmes that run from June to September, in collaboration with the National Library of Greece. Seminars on creative writing and the use of computers are held for citizens. Finally, it collaborates with the University of Piraeus in undergraduate computer courses and participates in national and European cultural and reading forums.
