In the western suburbs of Athens, in Peristeri, a 60-hectare green paradise has opened its doors. The 28-acre Peristeri Grove has been restored and is an ideal place for walks under the shade of its tall trees. A walk through the green streets of Peristeri Grove is a gift that visitors can give themselves. Eucalyptus trees, plane trees, sycamore trees, olive trees, carob trees, cypresses, weeping willows, acacias, lemon cypresses, orange trees, fig trees, lemon trees, cypresses are some of the trees that visitors will definitely recognize. In different parts of the grove there are also wonderful flower gardens, flooded with thousands of colors and scents that mark each season of the year.
Those who love sports will find here a unique, modern gym with European standards, where they can work out in nature and get rid of stress! The best thing at this time… If what relaxes the visitors is reading, they can borrow one of the books of the Municipal Library that they will find here and “travel” mentally through its pages… in the special reading areas. Guests of the grove can also use Wi-Fi free of charge.
Children can also enjoy themselves in the beautiful playground designed especially for them. They will also learn to identify and protect the trees that surround this beautiful park, because they are the oxygen of their lives… In summer, they can also enjoy interesting children’s shows (such as Karagiozis, puppet theatre, etc.) organized in the renovated theatre in the grove.
In the open-air amphitheatre of the Peristeri Grove, many cultural events are held during the summer months by various local and other organizations (open-air concerts, theatre performances, dance groups and much more). Inside the Peristeri Grove, visitors will also find the “Green House”, an information centre on recycling, energy saving and new energy technologies, which is open 24 hours a day. Please note that bicycles are not allowed in the grove.
