Veakio Municipal Theatre of Piraeus

The Veakio Municipal Theatre is located in the city of Piraeus, on the hill of Kastela (Prophet Elias). It is a summer theater with a capacity of 2,000 spectators and has the form of an ancient theater. It was built in 1969, during the mayoralty of Aristides Skylitsis, and was originally called Skylitsio, while in 1976 it was renamed to Veakio, in honor of the great actor Emilios Veakis. The Veakio Theatre is the center of a remarkable artistic expression, hosting important cultural events, such as performances by major Greek and international troupes, folk groups of international renown, and concerts by well-known artists, mainly from the Greek music industry.
