What is the S.T.D. Observatory?

The Sustainable Tourism Development Observatory of the Region of Attica, implemented through the actions of the Tourism Promotion Project, is an initiative of the Region of Attica to implement and present its tourism market study. Through modern business intelligence tools, the results of data collection and processing are recorded and presented visually, after their collection from official sources or as a result of surveys, and study findings and tourism development indicators are published. The Observatory’s main objective is to promote balanced tourism development that respects the environment, society, and the economy, as well as data collection, trend analysis, and the provision of information on the current state of tourism in various sectors. The main goal of the S.T. Observatory is to create an environment that combines tourism with environmental protection, social welfare, and economic development. Additional goals:

  • Monitoring and evaluating the current state of tourism in the Region of Attica. Collecting and analyzing data on trends and impacts of tourism in various sectors such as the environment, the economy, and society.
  • Promoting sustainable tourism development that takes into account environmental protection, social justice, and economic impact.
  • Informing and raising awareness among the public, businesses, and the competent authorities about the impact of tourism and the importance of sustainable development.
  • Promoting cooperation between various stakeholders and highlighting and promoting best practices in tourism that enhance sustainability.
