Bouboulina Museum

The Bouboulina Museum was first opened in 1991 by Laskarina Bouboulina’s descendants, to save the heroine’s mansion from imminent collapse. Since its opening, it has been visited by over 800,000 people (including approximately 200,000 students), who have all been moved by the fascinating story of this heroine of the 1821 Greek War of Independence, who until recently had the honor of being the only female Admiral in world Naval history. During the tour of the mansion, visitors may admire collections of weapons, old books, porcelains, documents and letters of the Revolution, paintings and models of warships, the heroine's items, embroidery, Byzantine icons, furniture, and the stunning carved ceiling from Florence in the grand salon of the mansion.
