February in the National Gallery

February at the National Gallery offers a diverse range of events celebrating art, history, and culture.

The spotlight is on Francisco Goya’s “Los Caprichos”, with 80 etchings that provide a critical view of late 18th-century Spanish society. Accompanied by preparatory photographs, this exhibition – running through September 2025 – invites visitors to explore Goya’s break from royal commissions and his engagement with Enlightenment ideals.

Additionally, “The Allure of the Odd” presents a thematic exploration of Greek art, featuring works by ten contemporary artists who delve into the grotesque and hybrid. A variety of educational programs are also available, including guided tours and interactive workshops for families. Highlights include a program on “The Moonlit Night” inspired by the art of Nikos Hadjikiriakos-Ghikas, as well as a session focused on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Special tours of works by Yannis Halepas and other artistic activities ensure a month rich in cultural discovery.
