In 2008, on the initiative of the citizens of Aegina, a day was organized entitled “Vasta kamenini pistachio”, where, among other things, the valuable experiences of the pistachio-producing city of Sicily, Brode, were presented. This was the trigger for the creation of Fistiki Fest.

Since then and every year the Pistachio Festival has been embraced by the whole world and established as the great modern celebration of Aegina. It starts in August with events all over the island and ends on September 18, with a big exhibition in the city of Aegina that lasts from September 15 – 18.

It stretches along the entire length of the beach and hosts over fifty exhibitors. The peanut producers of the island have their products available directly, while the famous fruit of Aegina is the star in a multitude of sweet or salty flavours of original products available at the various stands. The other products of the island, honey, oil, and excellent dairy products also have their place of honour. In some booths, there are also ceramics and other handicraft products of the place.
