Walk through time in the heart of Attica, the Greater Athens Region! On Thursday, May 22, 2025, discover a hidden historical neighborhood in the heart of Athens with the Museum of Modern Greek Culture, as it participates once again in the nationwide initiative “Green Cultural Routes”, organized by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.
Through two themed guided tours titled “In the Neighborhood of Our Museum: Exploring the Courtyard of the Museum of Modern Greek Culture,” visitors are invited to explore layers of Athens’ history—right where they were lived. From remnants of the Late Roman Wall to the 6th–7th century Church of Saint Thomas, the Dragoumis House (built in 1835), and surviving Ottoman-era architecture, the museum’s open-air space becomes a living timeline.
This event offers a unique opportunity to experience the museum’s new permanent exhibition, set within a rare 19th-century neighborhood that preserves traces of the city’s evolving urban landscape.
Free entry is offered to all guided tour participants. Tour times: 11:00 and 13:00. Booking opens May 15 via phone at +30 210 3223355 (Mon–Fri, 8:00–15:00).
