Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta 2022

The Spetses Classic Yacht Regatta (SCYR) was founded in 2011 and has been, since then, the most popular race of its kind in Greece, but also one of the most important in the Mediterranean. It is organized every summer, usually in the month of June, by the Nautical Club of Greece and is under the auspices of the Municipality of Spetses and with the support of the Nautical Club of Spetses.

The event is now considered an institution for Greek, and not only, sailing, with the races of classic boats, dinghies and Latin boats offering great excitement and rich competition to the participants as well as to the multitude of tourists who flock to the island. The most important representatives of the sport, both from the sports and from the business world, from Greece and abroad are “present” every year, with over 75 boats and 400 crew members.

This special race celebrates the principles and values ​​of noble competition and fair competition, with spectators having the opportunity to admire rare boats from Greece and abroad and enjoy high-level sailing competitions, in a true celebration of seamanship and woodworking art.

Traditional Boats
The focal point of the Race remains the international innovation of competing classic boats, Greek traditional boats and Latin boats at the same time in a sailing race. Some of the most famous boats in the country, such as Faneromeni, Panagia of Tinos, Alkyoni, Aeolos Spetson, Notios Anemos, Afroessa, Stratis, Marida, and Ag. Georges that have been built in the traditional shipyards of Perama, Syros, Koilada and Spetses have participated in the biggest race of classic boats in Greece.
The Nautical Club of Greece, as the organizer of the race, proved that wooden boats are a strong magnet with their beauty and simple luxury. Closely connected to the maritime tradition of the island of Spetses, the event highlights in a difficult time, apart from the values ​​of the sport of sailing, the art of woodworking which has not exhausted its ticket to survival in the future.
