On February 16, 1985, the stadium hosted its first event, the 1st Panhellenic Indoor Athletics Championship. One month later, it hosted its first major sporting event, the European Indoor Athletics Championships, known as the EPA’85. Since then, it has hosted major international sporting events such as the Women’s European Champions Cup Final (1985, 1988), the Volleyball Cup Winners’ Cup Final (1986 , 1989, 1995, 1996, 2018), the Eurobasket final with Greece winning the trophy in 1987 after defeating the Soviet Union in the final 103-101, the World Wrestling Cup (1988), the European Gymnastics Championship (1990), the World Championship of Rhythmic Gymnastics (1991), The Final 4 of the Volleyball Champions Cup (1992-1994), the World Wrestling Championships (1999), the World Weightlifting Championships (1999), the 2004 Olympic Games volleyball event and many others. Today it is the permanent home of Olympiakos basketball team.
The main arena of Peace and Friendship Stadium (S.E.F.), with a total area of 4,000 square meters, hosts major events such as basketball and volleyball games, indoor athletics championships, conferences, concerts, cultural events and exhibitions. In addition, it has sports facilities for basketball, gymnastics, tennis, artistic gymnastics, volleyball, martial arts, outdoor sports and recreation areas (Beach Volley, tennis), playgrounds, hiking trails.
