Saronida
Saronida, the smallest municipal unit of the Municipality of Saronikos, is located about 18 km. from Kalyvia and is geographically “squeezed” between the areas of Lagonisi and Anavyssos. In ancient times, during the period of Cleisthenes, it was part of the region of the Attica Municipality of Aegilia, protected from the north by the Lavreotikos Olympus. The area, formerly called “Pefka Giourda”, was renamed “Saronis” in 1965. A popular beach resort of Attica, over the years it has become a modern place of permanent residence with a mild Mediterranean climate. Facing the sea and the escalating slope of its terrain towards Mount Olympus, it is one of the natural balconies of Attica.
