Thission Summer Cinema

Cine THISSION is the oldest open-air cinema in Athens, built in 1935. It has been operating every spring and summer since then, with a short forced break during the occupation of World War II. Since 1980, it has been in the hands of the Maniakis family, who have taken care of it and transformed it into a small paradise in the historical center of Athens, right under the Acropolis. Until today, they dedicate their time, attention and love to this historic cinema, keeping it clean, green and in perfect harmony with the area, respecting the history and tradition, not only of the city, but also of the old open-air cinemas. The cinemas they know well, after more than 50 years in this business. Access is easy from Thission metro station (about 10 minutes walk to the cinema) and Acropolis metro station (about 20 minutes walk to the cinema). For cyclists, if you arrive about 30 minutes before the start of the movie, you can park your bike inside the theater in the designated area. People with mobility problems and disabilities can enter the theater through the entrance to the left of the box office. Please note, however, that there is no wheelchair-accessible restroom.
