Athens International Digital Film Festival

  • Athens International Digital Film Festival stands as an international meeting point for creators and audience, since its very first year.

Simultaneously it achieved an alignment with the major developments regarding cinema, which is steadily moving towards the Digital Age. Featured as an innovative Festival it soon experienced an unexpected response from many filmmakers around the world.

Digital Cinema has created an unprecedented technological revolution in the film industry, also affecting television and internet. The ergonomics and availability of digital cameras along with the endless possibilities of digital editing expand the capabilities of modern filmmakers allowing them to achieve traditionally impossible things. Thus a vibrant community is rising all around the world of millions who are interested in cinema, which continues to gather heads and affect the other arts, which often borrow tools, technology and ideas inspired by cinema to create new art species.

The Festival, while progressing the idea of digital cinema, concludes fiction films, documentaries, animation, video art, video dance, experimental and student films that were created by using new digital media.

The 7th International Digital Film Festival AIDFF will take place March 29 – April 4, 2018

It announced the deadline for submission of applications, setting a deadline of Monday 5 February 2018.

The Festival will be hosted at Alkyonida and Studio Cinemas by KOYINTA and Tickets Tickets

The 7th International Digital Cinema Festival (AIDFF) , features films of fiction, documentaries, animation, experimental, video- art, video-dance and student films and is currently accepting submissions.

Since its inception, AIDFF has been a meeting place for creators and spectators, bringing Greece’s modern cinematic reality together with the biggest international developments in cinema.

The ergonomics and availability of digital cameras as well as the inexhaustible capabilities of digital editing, offer opportunities to contemporary filmmakers that once were inaccessible and create a vibrant community of millions of people all over the world interested in cinema.

For the third year, the festival, in collaboration with the British Foundation MMBF, will give the Rising Star Award. The Festival takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and is supported by the City of Athens.
