Mount Pateras

This beautiful mountain, an extension of the Mount Parnitha range, rises as a natural border between Megara and Eleusis. Occupying the western part of Attica, Mount Pateras is separated from its northern neighbour, Mount Kythairon, by the Vilia Valley.

Despite forest fires and increasing popularity with hikers, the mountain has maintained its natural beauty, perhaps because of the dense undergrowth.

Hiking here is a truly unforgettable experience. Its storied paths lead to famed archaeological sites including the Acropolis of ancient Ereneia and the tower ruins in the Mill area.
