Diavologefyro is a small gorge with springs and rich vegetation. The water of the springs was collected in a channel and led to the opposite side of the gorge by an arched bridge of antiquity. Today it is a wonderful recreation area where visitors to the archaeological site rest. The archaeological site was restored and maintained and the Devil's Bridge can be visited today. In excellent physical condition, with particular natural beauty, tasteful man-made elements and panoramic views, it still maintains touristic and nature-loving interest. According to an old legend, a renowned master builder was called upon to construct a bridge in a steep and rugged location, over the great river of Damalas, the Chrysoroas. The task was extremely difficult, as the two rocks that could support the bridge were far apart. The bridge builder tried twice to erect the bridge but failed. As he was preparing for a third and final attempt, the devil appeared and promised to help him in exchange for his soul. The master builder accepted the deal, and in a single night, the bridge was raised in place. That same night, the devil gifted him a jar filled with gold coins. The master builder became immensely wealthy, but his joy lasted only six years. One day, as he was crossing the bridge to visit the spot where he had hidden his treasure, a fierce wind arose, lifted him up, and made him disappear. At the same moment, a lightning bolt struck his house and destroyed his family. Thus, according to the legend, this bridge was named "Diavologefiro", which means the Devil's Bridge.
