The lighthouse is approximately 7 kilometers from Lavrio. It is located 800 meters after Syri (the last settlement we meet) in Vrysaki, at the northern entrance of the Makronissos channel. It was first lit in 1892 with oil as source of energy. During the 2nd World War the lighthouse remained extinguished. In 1943, in the context of the reconstruction of the Lighthouse Network, it resumed operation with oil as source of energy. In 1983, the lard oil burner was replaced with a new modern automated beacon.
Vrysaki lighthouse now produces a white flash every 5 seconds projected up 20 nautical miles. Access to the lighthouse is easy. The road is asphalt except for the last few meters which is a dirt road in good condition.
