Alimos Basilica

Alimos Basilica is an early Christian church, of the 6th century, located between modern Alimos and the Trachones area. More specifically, at the end of Deligiorgis Street, in the forecourt of the current Temple of Zoodochos Pigi. The architectural style of the church, although now only ruins remain, is early Christian, a small three-aisled basilica with a narthex that is quite similar to the basilica of Glyfada. It is dated to the 6th AD century. According to the archaeologist Orlando, it was built a little later than the basilica of Glyfada and is of the exact same type. The existence of this temple in the area proves the continuation of the habitation in the area of the Ancient city of Halimus during the first Christian centuries.
