On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Panayiotis Tetsis’s birth, the National Gallery in Attica, the Greater Athens Region, presents a major retrospective honouring the influential Greek artist. Titled “The Obsession of the Gaze”, the exhibition invites visitors into Tetsis’s vibrant visual universe through 160 works that include paintings, prints, watercolours, and pastels.

Focusing on his thematic series—such as Street Market, Hydra, Gardens, and Balcony Doors—the exhibition reveals his distinctive use of colour, light, and repetition. Tetsis’s artistic gaze, shaped by decades of dedicated observation, transforms everyday moments into expressive narratives.

This tribute also highlights his significant contributions as an academic, teacher, and former chairman of the National Gallery’s Artistic Committee.
