The Electronic Reading Room of the National Library opens to the public on a pilot basis.
Free remote access to widely read books.

The National Library of Greece, as part of its modernization, offers the public the Electronic Reading Room as a pilot, a new digital service, which enables certified users to read Greek-language electronic books for free, for a specific period of time, wherever they are, through your computer, tablet or smartphone.

The creation and operation of the Electronic Reading Room is part of the “Implementation Plan for the Relocation of the National Library of Greece to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center” which is being prepared with an exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

The collection of the Electronic Reading Room of the National Library of Greece includes widely readable books, with an emphasis on the fields of literature, history, arts, sciences, but also of general interest. This innovative service aims to promote e-reading and familiarize the public with e-books. In particular, it is a platform, which has more than 2,500 titles, coming from 14 Greek publishing houses with a large publishing production of electronic titles. Each certified user of the National Library through the Electronic Reading Room can simultaneously “download” up to 3 electronic books, for 20 days each, with the right to renew. The address of the Electronic Reading Room is: ereading.nlg.gr
