The International Museum Day was first coordinated in 1977 by the International Council of Museum (ICOM) and is held annually on May 18th to highlight the role museums play in modern society. This year’s celebration theme is “Museums, Education and Research”, aiming to promote museums as spaces that provide a vast field of knowledge in topics such as art, history, science, technology and tradition, helping to better understand a world that is sustainable, inclusive and empathetic.
