The Parthenon and Byron

The Acropolis Museum honours Lord Byron’s memory on the occasion of 200 years since his death, with a small, symbolic exhibition from 26 April 2024 until 31 December 2024.

Titled “The Parthenon and Byron”, the exhibition includes three sections: Byron’s passport, a short biography and excerpts from two of Byron’s poems which refer to the brutal detachment and destruction of the Parthenon Marbles and a selection of annotated traveler images from the Acropolis and the Parthenon.
