The German Military Cemetery Dionyssos – Rapendoza 1939-1945 (Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof 1939-1945 Dionyssos – Rapendoza) is one of the two cemeteries where the graves of German soldiers who lost their lives in Greece during World War II are located. The other cemetery is the German Military Cemetery in Maleme, Crete. It is located in a place that was initially quite isolated, on the north side of Penteli, in Dionyssos, near Rapentoza.
In this cemetery are the graves of 9,973 soldiers of the German Army in three different areas. The Cemetery was founded on September 28, 1975 and German soldiers from all parts of Greece were buried in this place. The cemetery is cared for by the Association for the Care of German War Graves, a private association based in Kassel, commissioned by the German Government. The association has undertaken the care of similar cemeteries around the world.
