The Greek National Opera (GNO), supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in Attica, the Greater Athens Region, unveils its bold 2025/26 season under the theme: “The opera of the future arises from the womb of the past.” Featuring 7 new productions, 5 revivals, world premieres, global tours, and historic firsts, the season blends heritage with innovation.

Highlights include:

• La Gioconda, opening the season in co-production with the Royal Opera House and Salzburg Easter Festival.
• Historic return to Epidaurus after 65 years with Medea.
• World premiere of Requiem for the End of Love (Koumendakis–Papaioannou–Currentzis).
• International Opera Awards hosted in Athens (13 Nov 2025).
• New Giselle, plus revivals of Swan Lake, Golden Age, Tosca, and La traviata.
• Tours to China, Cyprus, and Italy.

Also featured: Falstaff, Flora mirabilis, Isadora Duck, and a rare authentic Carmen.
