Maraslean Teaching Center

The Maraslean Teaching Centre of Primary Education was housed in a neoclassical building in 1905, which was built on a plot of land donated by the Petraki Monastery on the initiative of the Greek Teachers Association (1875). The expense of erecting the building, furnishing it and enriching it with teaching aids was covered by a donation from the national benefactor Gregory Maraslis, who came from Odessa, Ukraine. Until 1933, a Teaching School operated in the building, which trained teachers. From that year on, the training of teachers was taken over by the Pedagogical Academies, including the Maraslean Teaching Centre of Primary Education, which was housed in the neoclassical building of Maraslis. In the same space, from 1972, the Maraslean Teaching School of Primary Education was re-established and operated as an institution for further education of teachers.
