Concerts in Attica: A summer full of fiery renowned performers!

Melodies below the Acropolis

Below the Sacred Rock of Acropolis, in an ancient theater, one of the most spectacular of the world, the music takes center stage. The Odeon of Herodes Atticus, broadly known as the Herodion, has hosted top artists in the past, such as Maria Kallas, Igor Stravinsky and Leonard Bernstein.

In the context of this year’s Athens Epidaurus Festival, classic enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy the Grazer Philharmoniker (Graz Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra) (July 4) and the Philharmonic Brass, created by members of the Vienna and Berlin philharmonic orchestras (July 10).

Charles Lloyd, the 86 y.o. jazz legend, celebrates this year the closing of his spectacular career with a landmark concert (July 18), joined by the greek, yet internationally renowned singer, Maria Farantouri and Sokratis Sinopoulos, a contemporary master of the lyra.

World famous artists by the sea

Over the past few years, Release Festival is housed at Water Square in the Faliro Olympic Complex. Close to the city center and by the Attican sea, this is surely one of the most important concert events of the summer.

This year, you can enjoy the ultimate electro-pop trio of Cannons (July 6), Thievery Corporation and Black Pumas (July 9), far ahead of their time Massive Attack (July 17), the true wigglers Duran Duran and Sofi Tukker with their multifaceted live act (July 18), Judas Priest with a half-century career and Bruce Dickinson, the frontman of Iron Maiden (July 21). This Festival offers a plethora of live acts, for all tastes and preferences.

Five-star concerts at Lycabettus Hill

In the heart of Athens, the recently renovated Athens Lycabettus Theatre has been one of the most characteristic landmarks of the city. Choose a concert, wait for the evening to go up the hill and create the best soundtrack for your vacations.

Some of the international artists of this year’s program are charismatic Asaf Avidan (July 12), Pink Martini celebrating their 30 years (July 15), Imany, the French soul diva with Voodoo Cello (July 16) and Placebo, so much loved in Greece (August 1).

This summer, Eject Festival brings to Greece top music artists, who stand out for their forcefulness. The Olympic Stadium of Athens (OAKA) turns its Parking 5 into a volcanic music stage, ready to host, among others, Korn, the introducers of nu metal and Loathe, the new wave British band (July 22). Maneskin, the 2021 Eurovision winners with billions of streams and Alice Merton of “No Roots” are ready to spice things up on July 23, whilst, one day later (July 24), the top-notch British band Bring Me The Horizon and Neck Deep, one of the most riveting pop-punk bands internationally, cannot but electrify the crowd.
