Assigned to the British by the Greek state, this simple, yet emotionally powerful cemetery was established by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission of the British Army.
Designed by French-Canadian architect, Louis de Soissons, the cemetery is also home to British graves from the Crimean War in the 19th century. Visible from the central avenue, the graves are virtually identical in appearance, their simple white headstones standing out starkly against the grass.
The entirety of this special cemetery, with its lush green carpet, low walls and understated graves, blends subtly into the surrounding residential area of Faliro.
