The 94-metre Calatrava Footbridge, on Mesogeion Avenue, is located just outside the Katehaki metro station. Notable is its imposing 50-metre metal pillar, located at the station entrance.
The footbridge connects the west side of the road and the metro station. Metallic support cables extend from the central pillar to the path, suspending it securely above the street.
Its designer, Calatrava, was inspired by the famous column of Hegeso in Kerameikos, whose harp-like lines were reinterpreted into this functional bridge.
