This neoclassical building on Anthimou Gazi Street is one of the few buildings in Athens that still serves the purpose for which it was built.

Constructed in 1876, this eye-catching building has been home to the offices and printing facilities of the Estia newspaper for 140 years, a testament to the publication’s success. Typical of the neoclassical style favoured in the second half of 19th century, the building has three floors with a symmetrical façade, a marble balcony on the first floor, and entrances and exits on all floors framed by marble Corinthian columns.

The decision was made early in this century to restore the building’s original aesthetic and architectural features, based on studies by Michael Tylianakis.
