27th Athens International Film Festival

The 27th edition of the Athens International Film Festival Premiere Nights comes with 14 days of screenings, 140 films, 3 Competition Sections, 2 Specials, long-awaited premieres, side events and special screenings from September 22 to October 3, 2021.

The 27th edition will be hosted in summer and indoor cinemas, ensuring equal access for city residents and visitors.

This year the 27th Premiere Nights are collaborating with two cultural institutions. The first collaboration takes place with the Municipal Theater of Piraeus and includes a series of screenings in historical spots of Piraeus. The Festival's past will meet the present with two pre-festival, double and open air screenings where four of the most popular opening films in the history of Premiere Nights to date will be hosted with free admission.

The second synergy launched this year at Premiere Nights is with the Athens Biennale. A series of films from the program of the 27th Athens International Film Festival Premiere Nights, are part of the rationale of the 7th BIENNALE of Athens entitled "ECLIPSE" as they tell stories about the social, political and spiritual changes that are taking place on a global level as well as in the same Athens, approaching issues of identity, history and cultural complexity.
