Celebration of Saint Nektarios

Saint Nektarios was born in 1846 in Silyvria, Thrace, and his popular name was Anastasios Kefalas. The son of a large and poor family, he was forced from a very early age to work to make a living, while knowing as a child the cruelty of life. It is said that at the age of seven he bought paper and sewed the leaves together.
