On the coastal road of Poros, between Mikro Neorion and Aspros Gatos (White Cat), you can see a red house. Villa Galini is an elegant neoclassical villa that hosted writers and artists. The house was designed by the Olympic medalist and significant Greek architect Anastasios Metaxas. Metaxas was the architect who restored the Panathenaic Stadium. He designed the Benaki Museum, Syngrou hospital and other famous buildings of Athens.

The island’s western-most beach is marked by the ruins of the Russian Navy’s Mediterranean base in the 19th century. Amenities include food stall and sun beds. Swim across the cove to Daskalio, a small islet topped by a small church.

This beach sits just beneath the Zoodohos Pigi Monastery at the end of the Askeli road. There’s a small refreshment stand plus organized and free sections. The beach boasts cobalt waters and a view of the Peloponnese coast. It’s great for a swim after touring the monastery—just remember to bring proper attire.
The beach is four kilometers from Poros Town and served by bus.

There are several great swimming spots along the beach at Megalo Neorio, which also boasts a water ski and water sports facilities and several tavernas. The pine-shaded shore offers a great view of the Peloponnese coast and sleek yachts anchored in the strait.

Closest beach to Poros Town, Kanali is a sandy strip just off the small bridge linking Sphairia and Kalaureia that boasts turquoise waters and a view of the Aegean. Amenities include beach bar and showers. Kanali is popular among families with children because of its gently-sloped sand seabed. There are tavernas and cafes around the beach.
