Dimotiki Scholi

Located on Adrianou Street in Plaka, the Dimotiki Scholi (Municipal School) was built between 1875 and 1876.

Based on designs by Panagiotis Kalkos, its monumental entrance is of the Doric order, with two towering columns and a frieze – the classic elements of similar buildings. Such imposing features, adorning this relatively small building, create an attractive contrast.

The original building and its subsequent extensions house the 74th Primary School of Athens.
