The Gennadius Library is located on Souidias Street in Kolonaki, opposite the American School of Classical Studies. Established in 1926 to house books donated by Greek diplomat and bibliophile Ioannis Gennadios, the collection today exceeds 120,000 titles, all related to the Greek history.

Its imposing entrance of white marble, designed in the Ionic order, is located within a large, well-kept garden planted with Mediterranean flora. With its study and research centre focusing on the history, art and literature of Greece, the Gennadios Library is an important cultural foundation with international prestige.
