Frissiras Museum

Founded in 2000 by Vlassis Fryssiras, this museum of contemporary art is housed in two beautiful neoclassical buildings on Monis Asteriou Street in Plaka.

An impressive five-storey structure, the first building was designed by Alexandros Tobazis. Completed in 1860, its unique characteristics such as the interior courtyard with glass windows have been fully preserved.

The second building, constructed in the early 20th century, was designed by Ernst Ziller. Both buildings were restored by the Fryssiras family to house the museum’s choice contemporary collections, including paintings, drawings, engravings and other pieces by European artists.
