The Melina Merkouri Foundation was established to uphold and promote Greek Culture in Greece and abroad.

Located on Polygnotou Street in Plaka, the 19th-century manor housing the foundation is a neoclassical building, which was fully restored and restructured in the late 20th century.

The foundation has organised numerous international exhibitions, produced a variety of historically relevant publications and sponsors other important social, environmental and artistic causes.
