Center for the Study and Research of Greek Theatre

To many, the Centre is still known by its original name, the Greek Theatre Museum.

Established in 1938 by the Greek Playwrights’ Association, the museum’s board of directors has included many major Greek playwrights. Located on the ground floor of the Municipality of Athens Cultural Center, its two halls house a vast collection of memorabilia from modern Greek theatre.

The museum maintains an extensive library, rich in archival material such as rare programmes and posters from Greek productions staged abroad.

Visitors can relive great moments of the Greek stage, with stars like Marika Kotopouli, Katina Paxinou, Eleni Papadaki, Dimitris Mirat, Dimitris Horn, Manos Katrakis and many others.
