Zoodochos Pigi of Kalavria Monastery

Located on a lush green hillside, this peaceful monastery is one of Poros’ main attractions. Built in the 18th century by Jacob, bishop of Athens, the picturesque monastery gives visitors a sense of serenity and an opportunity for healing.

At the entrance visitors can drink the healing water for which the monastery is named. Once inside the monastery’s high, sturdy walls and turreted gate, guests should head toward the domed Catholicon where they can glimpse the bishop’s throne and 17th-century wooden screen. This monastery’s rich history, delicate decorations and stunning location attract a steady stream of visitors from around the world.
