Syngros Forest

Syngros Forest was bequeathed to the Athens Agricultural Society by the wife of Andreas Syngros, who stipulated that the land be used to train farmers and gardeners.

Bordering the municipalities of Maroussi, Kifissia and Melissia, the estate has been administered by the Ministry of Agriculture since 1988. In addition to housing the Institute of Agricultural Science and the Anavryta Experimental Lyceum, the estate promotes a variety of other agricultural activities.

Syngros Mansion and Agios Andreas neo-Gothic chapel are also here. Although more than 400 hectares of woodland were destroyed by fire in 1981, the area is completely reforested and the estate now boasts more than 700 hectares of Aleppo pines and 200 hectares reserved for agriculture.
