Blue Flags 2024: 17 beaches and 5 marinas rank top of the list in Attica!
Every year, the cool seas of Attica welcome their visitors, offering the so much wanted chill getaway during hot summer days. Before searching the best spot for your quick dives close to Athens, take a look to the Blue Flag-accredited beaches.
Blue Flags in Attica:
The Blue Flag international program, with 52 participant countries from all over the world in 2024, has awarded the beaches and marinas that meet the stringent criteria of the certifying foundation. 17 beaches and 5 marinas in Attica were highly rated for the quality of their waters and their advanced infrastructure.
With countless choices and exquisite diversity, Attica, with its stunning shores, is the perfect summer destination. Not too long from the city center and no matter the time of day, you can swim in its internationally awarded waters. Immerse yourself into the tranquil bliss of the sea, let the sun kiss your skin and embrace the summer feeling of Attica!
From Marathonas to Daskaleio, from Lagonisi to Aegina
Brexiza beach is ideal for all ages and is located near Nea Makri, an area within the Municipality of Marathonas; one of the longest beaches of Attica, with jade-green waters and golden sand. Want more? Add a pinch of ancient culture and pay a visit to the nearby Sanctuary of the Egyptian Gods. “Karavi” beach at Schinias, with itssunloungers and crystalline waters, is another Blue Flag certified beach of Attica.
Head to the Municipality of Spata-Artemida and enjoy your bathing at Diastavrosi and Limni beaches; really close to each other, spacious and much loved by locals and visitors. Going further south, the Municipality of Markopoulo – Mesogaia, at Porto Rafti area, can surely boast of its “Avlaki” beach and its azure waters.
Lying in a beautiful and peaceful bay, Solo Pino (1st Limanaki Daskalio Kerateas) is the hidden awarded gem of the Municipality of Lavreotiki. On the other hand, the Municipality of Saronikos offers four blue flag accredited beaches: Grand Beach, Mediterraneo and Kohylia at Grand Resort Lagonissi, yet in Anavyssos almost everyone knows Mavro Lithari/ EverEden Beach.
Spend a day to remember at Astir Beach or Vouliagmeni Beach in the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni. Are you an adrenaline addict? Visit the 1st Voula Beach, choose among its water sports or play beach-volley with your friends. From early in the morning until sunset, the Municipality of Glyfada welcomes you in its awarded beaches. Glyfada, Glyfada beach Akti A’ and Glyfada beach Akti B’, with puffy sand and turquoise waters, create an exotic set for your relaxation.
In Aegina, Agia Marina, the renown and longest beach of the island, is Blue Flag certified and invites you for some carefree summertime moments. Just dive and feel.
Blue Flag marinas in Attica
The Blue Flag accreditation is not awarded only to beaches, but to marinas of the participating
countries alike. In Attica, five marinas have ranked top in 2024:
- Οlympic Μarine, in the Municipality of Lavreotiki
- Agios Kosmas Marina, in the Municipality of Ellinikon-Argyroupoli
- Alimos Marina, in the Municipality of Alimos
- Flisvos Marina, in the Municipality of Palaio Faliro
- D-Marin Zea Marina, in the Municipality of Piraeus
